Rose Muhando

Rose Muhando, born on July 29, 1976, is a prominent Tanzanian gospel singer, songwriter, and choreographer. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest gospel singers in East and Central Africa, having sold millions of records throughout her career.

Her musical journey began as a choir teacher, and her debut album, “Uwe Macho,” released in 2004, was a massive success, selling over a million copies in the region. She followed this with other successful albums, including “Kitimutimu” from 2005 and “Jipange Sawa Sawa” from 2008, which also sold millions of copies.

Her music, which is characterized by high-energy performances and spiritual depth, has earned her numerous awards, including a “Best Female Gospel Artist in Africa” award at the 2008 Kenya Groove Awards and an ICON AWARD at the 2025 Tanzania Gospel Music Awards for her legendary service. Some of her most popular songs include “Nibebe,” “Utamu Wa Yesu,” “Ndivyo Ulivyo,” and the recent 2025 releases “Kimya” and “Napokea.” In 2011, she made history by becoming the first gospel singer in East and Central Africa to sign a multi-album recording deal with Sony Music.
