Khadija Kopa

Khadija Omar Abdallah Kopa, born in Zanzibar in 1963, is a prominent Tanzanian Taarab singer, songwriter, and actress. She is widely known as the “Queen of Mipasho” or “Malkia wa Mipasho” for her distinct style of Taarab music, which often includes spoken or half-sung lyrical verses. She began her career in the early 1990s and has been a member of prominent Taarab bands, including Culture Musical Club and Tanzania One Theater (TOT).

Her extensive discography includes a number of popular songs, with some of her most well-known tracks being “Nasema Nawe,” “Wigi Linawasha,” “Full Stop,” and “Top in Town.” She has also collaborated with a variety of artists, including Diamond Platnumz on the song “Nasema Nawe,” Aslay on “Usiitie Doa,” and her daughter, the Bongo Flava artist Zuchu, on the song “Mauzauza.”
